Mackenzie L. Ball

Mackenzie has a BS in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management, with an emphasis on Commercial and Community Recreation Management from The Pennsylvania State University. During her time at Penn State, she was president of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, executive board member of Bounce Marathon, and served on the operations committee for Penn State's THON. After graduation, she began a career in community marketing and her experience includes assisting in the planning and execution of the Pittsburgh Marathon, The Great Race, Project Bundle Up, 5 PGA Champions Tour Tournaments, 2 Nationwide Tour Tournaments, and the LPGA U.S. Women's Open. She has also assisted in coordinating concerts for Train, Maroon 5, and Rob Thomas. Most recently, Mackenzie has planned interview sessions, and networking and recruiting events for an international insurance company, before coming to the University of Pittsburgh.
At the University of Pittsburgh Mackenzie plans, organizes, and implements all of the department events for students, faculty, and staff. She oversees all department marketing, communications, PR, and social media. Additionally, Mackenzie facilitates and manages all department outreach activities, including diversity programs and the recruitment of high school students and under-represented groups to the Computer Science Department. Also, she manages the department's corporate relations. Mackenzie is the Program Director for the department's Technology Leadership Initiative, Advisor to the Women in Computer Science Club, and the Chair of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Western/Central PA & WV Affiliate and Academic Alliance member.
